this is a cool chance... WOW (women on wanderlust)organises trips every month, abroad as well in india. i went on a trekking trip with WOW...headed by sumitra beyond ranikhet and it was really cool.
any females who are interested can post a message.

One does not need to know swimming to river raft.
You should be equipped with a life jacket that will keep you afloat and a helmet that will protect you from passing out.
At most, you will float to a placid stretch of a river where you will be picked up from.
So relax and enjoy your trip.

ITINENARY
Day 01: 17th March: Arrive Haridwar Station and drive to the base camp at Shivpuri.After a hot lunch you will drive down to Bhrampuri (4 Kms) and get into the rafts for a short float trip till Rishikesh. You will learn the basic techniques for paddling and river reading to prepare for the expedition. Finish rafting at Rishikesh and drive back to the Shivpuri camp. We now take a short 15 minutes nature walk down to the river from where you will cross over to the beach camp.
Rest in camp. Optionally one can get out for a warm up trek for one hour into the Raja Ji National park that shares a border with the camp.
Overnight in luxury tents.
Day 02: 18th March: Shivpuri – Okhimath (1311 Mts.) Drive. 165 Kms. (5 – 6 hours)
From Shivpuri we drive to the holy town of Okhimath . The drive will follow the Ganga till Devprayag from where it will meander up the Alaknanda valley till Rudraprayag. From here the drive gets very beautiful as you follow the Mandakani river till the village of Okhimath.
Okhimath is the winter seat of Lord Kedarnath,and pujas are performed here during the winters, when the temple of Kedarnath remains closed. The temples of Usha and Anirudh, Shiva and Parvati are worth a visit. Overnight at the Garhwal Manadal guest house or similar. Once we arrive at Okhimath we will walk around the village,visit the temples and spend some time on a short walk to warm up and get used to the altitude.
Overnight in guest house.
Day 03: 19th March: Okhimath (1311 Mts)– Deoria Tal (2134 Mts). 10 Kms Trek, 6 hours
From Okhimat the trail to the Deoria Tal lake goes up the mountain side through lovely oak and rhododendron forest and lots of wild flowers and ferns. For the first day this is a comparatively easy walk. You will cover approx 10 Kms of fairly level walks through forests interpreted with short climbs and descents. Tonight we set up a lovely camp on the banks of the Deoiriatal Lake.
Overnight in trekking tents.
Day 04: 20th March: Deoriatal – Sari Trek (03 hours) – Chopta (2500 Mts.) 1.5 hours
Today you will trek to lower altitudes past Sari followed by a short drive to Chopta. ON reaching Chopta you will explore the forests and villages close to the campsite. Arrive at the Chopta campsite early in the evening. The camp is set up in the forests and meadows around Chopta.
Overnight in trekking tents.
Day 05: 21st March: Chopta – Tungnath (3680 Mts.) – Chopta. Trek 6 Kms. each way
Today we will use the whole day to trek up to the Tungnath temple (3680 m) and back to Chopta. This is a 6 Km trek up a steep 3 km to the old Tungnath temple, the highest temple in india. Lovely views of the Chandrashila peak. We come back down to the Chopta camp the night.
Overnight in trekking tents at Chopta.
Day 06: 22nd March: Chopta – Devprayag drive – Byasghat by raft
Early morning departure by road to Devprayag. A five hours drive that will finish at the confluence of the Alaknanda and Bhagirathi rivers at Devprayag. We will start rafting on the Ganga from this point onwards. All your camping gear will be carried in the rafts. You will negotiate small grade 2 rapids while floating through a beautiful gorge with tiny Himalayan Villages on each side. The raft trip will stop for the night at Byas Ghat which is a secluded beach surrounded by dense forests.
This is a very easy and basic raft section. Mainly a float trip, this section is open to almost all age groups from 10 Yrs onward till 80. Highly recommended for everyone. People who would like to skip rafting may drive back to the beach camp at Shivpuri and use the additional time to relax and do activities around the camp.
Overnight in trekking tents.
Day 07:23rd March: Byas Ghat – Kaudiyala – Marine Drive – Shivpuri
Post breakfast raft down a very calm section of the river till Kaudiyala. Here women who are NOT interested in hitting big rapids may drive back to the beach camp at Shivpuri. For the rest, the white water action starts here. You will raft down exciting Grade 3 and grade 4 rapids like the Daniel's Dip and the Wall all the way till Marine Drive (Malakhunti). From here time permitting we can carry on rafting for 1 hour to the beach camp or else drive back to the camp.
On arrival at the camp we will change into dry clothes and drive down to the ghats in Rishikesh to view the evening Aarti ceremony on the banks of the Ganga river. Return back to the camp for dinner.
Overnight in luxury tents at the beach camp.
Day 08:24th March: Shivpuri – Haridwar
Rest and relax in Camp. There will be Yoga along the Ganga in the morning. Post breakfast depart for Rishikesh for sightseeing. Walk through the market,cross the Lakhsman Jhoola and visit temples and ashrams for which Rishikesh is famous.
Late afternoon depart back to delhi
