Ernie Martin | | Hi Zahid, eventhough I'm not visiting Bangkok/Pattaya this year, I was there two years ago in May.
This is an off-season to visit those cities at this time of the year. It is hot temperature wise. At the same time budget accomodation rates are economical and cheaper. It's easy to find accomodations around 800 Bhats, about US$20, with a double bed/bathroom.
If you hang around Khasan Road in Bangkok, where majority of the English speaking tourists or other foreign tourists congregate, the rates are cheaper.
Arrive in Bangkok (Khasan Road in the early afternoon, if you don't have a reservation at a hotel and walk around.)
Pattaya is little cheaper than Bangkok. You can get a budget room just 100 yards away from the beach area. Don't miss the early morning and evening walks at the the beach.
Caution: In Pattaya,if you are annoyed by all night clubs (open air)with blaring disco music, stay away from hotels surrounding there, because it will keep you awake all night. Meals are also cheaper in Pattaya.
Plenty of internet cafes in Khasan road in Bangkok and in Pattaya's main street, near the harbour and beaches.
Arrive in Pattaya in the afternoon too, to locate a place to sleep with no reservations. I arrived at 11:30pm by bus from the Cambodian border (took 3 buses), and the motor cycle taxi driver took me to a motel close to the disco clubs area. It was OK for few hours of sleep, but I packed up the next morning and went just two blocks and found another motel which was very quite.
If you want to experience the public city bus ride in Bangkok, Thai style, be prepared with congestion and the bus fare is very minimal, and most of the street buses do not have air conditioning. The long distance buses have air conditioning, such as Bangkok to Pattaya. Carry a Thai phrase book, it will come in handy. I found the Thai people very friendly and helpful. Avoid public bus on friday afternoons and evenings. It's a mad house.:-)).
I stayed away from cooked food displayed for eating with the street vendors. I only ate freshly cooked rice/chicken/vegetable on a wok at street vendors or at cafe's where most Thai's or foreigners congregate for eating. The more the people in restaurants, the better it is. That means food is good and of quality and delicious.

I was there yesterday. I broke my journey while coming back from Shanghai. Enjoyed my short visit there. It was extremely hot. Early June is supposed to be rainy as well. If you are staying with in the BTS routes, that is the best mode of transport. Shopper's paradise.
